I'm having an issue with my Nuvi 55 GPS. I use it on my motorcycle and connect it into a USB port I installed on the bike. I'm using a standard USB 2.0 mini Type B cable. This is not the cable that came with the GPS. No issues with constant power. Randomly I'll get a message that pops up letting me know that my charging cable is not compatible with data or traffic. (can't remember which one) I touch the on screen button to acknowledge the message and it disappears but it keeps reappearing. This started happening a couple months ago. I've been using the same power cable for a couple years. I just updated the GPS and replaced the cable. Maybe this will help?????

Thanks for any insight on this issue.

I would have a look at the secret menu (fig 2) here :-
    https://www.gps-forums.com/threads/garmin-secret-menus.46595/#post-226796
It will tell you info. about what sort of USB cable it thinks it is using, charging current etc.

Note these values are from my Nuvi 56
    Battery Current (when charging)
USB ID Volts (detects special cables)
I limit USB (maximum current available from cable)
    USB Cable (type)
