Hi, I have a 2610 that functions perfectly, but will not update the Date. I have done a master reset, reinstalled the firmware, etc. All to no avail... Does anyone have any ideas..?

Your 2610 is probably suffering from the Week Rollover Problem, this is a software problem that early Garmin units had, basically the satellites sends the date as a week number from 1 to 2023 however this only covers a 20 year period and then it reverts back to 1 again, the result is a unit that displays the time correctly but the date 10 - 20 years in the past, this somtimes stops the unit getting a satellite 'fix' completely but can also result in a working unit that displays (and time stamps Waypoints) incorrectly
The fix for this is to load newer operating software where available or to use the software mentioned in the link above, unfortunately the software only works on certain units so I don't think either of these options are open to you

And tried to use the software re. the rollover issue, unsuccessfully
