Hello. I purchased a Te-Rich GPS and it came with no manual so I searched the Internet unsuccessfully. During the search I discovered dozens of units which appear to be identical to mine but with different names. I finally just figured it out and am using it now to measure land areas but wondered if anybody knows who actually makes these and what are the differences between each apparently identical unit? I did discover via photographs that mine only shows one antenna strength meter on the upper left corner yet other units show two. I think one is for GPS satellittes and the other is for Glonass ones. This unit shows two sets of satellites and so far is quite accurate but its a bit wierd so many identical units are out there under different names.
Best Regards and have a Happy New Year
    John

Thank you for this tip. I went to the site and read averything but wasn't able to clarify my questions. I did find a Chip maker in China who sell the "brain" but it looks like several companies buy this chip then mount it in the housing seen in my picture. All the housings seem to be identical but what appears on the screen varies slightly from each different seller. I got mine new for around 65USD and see them ranging in price up to 125USD but they all seem to be identical. Using it I have noticed it is more sensitive to movements than my old Magellan Meridian Platinium and that is because it gets signals from 3 different satelitte constellations. With my Magellan if I walk 10 feet north there is no change in Latitude but with this unit if I repeat this test shows changes in the 3rd decimal point so this increase in precision is very nice and exactly what I required. I can use it to rough check surveyors work on lots. To get down to mm precision requires much more costly gear so we plan to use this first to get ball park figures and then if gross errores are detected we will call in the surveyor with the more precise gear.

This new unit will be more accurate than an old Magellan, however there could be other reasons no change in Latitude was seen, some units are programmed to only log movements after a certain distance (or time) has passed this is done to stop 'jitter' when the unit is stationary, also some earlier satnavs were programmed to 'stick to the road' for example to prevent errors being displayed

Interesting information. The new unit does have jitter but down at the 4th and 5th digits. I will repeat the experiment and wait awhile to see if the MAG updates however the MAG does not display down to the 4th and 5th digit so 10 feet change may not be resolved. I do see the two small W's on the MAG screen which are those special satelittes that enhance accuracy.

    Thanks for the input

    Best Regards
    John
