There's an area of forest where I do a lot of walking, mostly hunting for wild mushrooms. The area is crisscrossed by a network of wood roads and smaller paths. There are also small cliffs and swampy areas that I cannot cross. I would like to record many of the roads and paths so that I can get to them when I'm off-path. (I have an Etrex Venture HC.) I also have a topo map of the area, not gotten from Garmin, recorded on the device.

I'm looking for a strategy for keeping track of the roads and paths. I would guess that for this purpose, tracks are more appropriate than routes. Either explicit advice or links to web pages with this information would be much appreciated.
