My girlfriend went to use her gps this morning and there was some deodorant on the screen( she had a stick in the car and it melted some) and now on the right side of the screen about a half a inch square area looked weird. Like not on the surface it looks deep. Almost lenticular lol. When she noticed it had deodorant on the screen she wiped it off with a paper towel. Not sure. If she pushed hard or what. It's doesn't hurt the functionality just bothers her to look at it. The unit is rather new she got it for Christmas.

Any ideas, is the lcd just acting like the way the old laptop screens did and in time it will go back, or is there some type of damage?

The LCD display (unlike on a laptop) will have something rigid in front of it, either a sheet of plastic or possibly glass, it sounds like the deodorant is on the inside of this sheet, maybe it seeped around the sides of the sheet. Some GPSs are fully waterproof they actually float, while others are just 'splash proof', GPSs are only used out doors so they should all be waterproof to some extent. I would not try to take it apart they are usually sealed pretty good, I would try to see if you can 'dry it out' by placing the GPS somewhere warm (but not too hot) for a a few days to see if the display gets any better.
Bye the way what make and model of GPS is it?
