Good morning, I recently acquired a Garmin GPSMAP 79sc which I would like to use for creating a safe route to and back on various parts of the Missouri river. I have downloaded and printed a copy of the owners manual but I'm somewhat confused as to what section or icon to start out or use to get it to record a track. Is there a fairly simple way to set it up to record a track and save it without using waypoints? I know where I'm at it's just I'm on the unchanneled part of the river and it changes from time to time and I would like to use the GPS as a tool to navigate. Thanks for any help you might give.

GPSs usually record a Track automatically as it moves, on the 79sc this recording is called an activity, see page 17 (Recordings), to permanently save the Track see page 19 (Creating a Track from a Saved Activity)
