I have a MIO C520 that I have been VERY happy with. I love how much info it gives on the home screen, how customizable it is and how sharp and easy to read the maps are. It, however, is beginning to act up and the battery is at the end of it's life. I would find another one but to get one with the same map is mine means they are 4 years old and I have been told the update changed alot of how it looks and works.

My wife has a Garmin NUVI. I HATE this device with a fiery passion. It is not intuitive, it gives little data other than the core directions, it, IMO, gives worse directions than my MIO, and has maps that look like a dim witted 6 year old with crayons drew.

My father has a TOMTOM, I have not used it enough to get a good feel for it. It's maps seems marginally better drawn than the Garmin.

I have no hands on experience with Magellen but they always seem to rank near the bottom in what I have read.

Based on all of that, what would you suggest as my next device?

I am on my 3rd Garmin and never had an issue! Garmin every time for me but then I haven't really tried others.

You say that your wife's NUVI does not give enough data. However, you fail to tell us what data you want. If you want good advise then we need to have full information on what you want.

My Garmin 2595 gives me all of the data I want. One think I would like is for the elevation data to be presented on the primary nav screen. The data is there but I have to change screens to get it.
