What is the rectangular thing on the Drivesmart 66 power cable (under the number 2)? I thought it might have be a traffic antenna/receiver but the Drivesmart 66 manual says it gets its traffic info from the Drive app on the smartphone, I assume via the bluetooth connection.

Here are a few guesses :-
    1. A radio receiver for traffic data
    2. A radio receiver for a wireless back-up camera
    3. A power converter
    4. Circuitry for the 3.5mm audio socket (1)
If I had to choose I would probably go for guess No. 2. above, Garmin sometimes use an existing power cable designed for a previous product, so it may not have a function at all on your unit
